Hex fiend evan meaney9/21/2023 There, it reads “This ‘real and singular thing’, a little square picture in its own frame. At the start of the exhibition, we as the viewers are introduced to it with a short writing by Wenders, almost like a poem. I believe that this curation is very apt, as the polaroids displayed are exactly that: a private collection. The entire exhibition seems to be curated as if this is a private collection, framed on the walls in a pristine manner. I feel that by adding a sense of symmetry into my collage, I could imbued the dynamism and movement I want, thus making my collage a little more exciting and visually appealing. The mix of type and visual is something I appreciate, as it does seem to complement the collage, appearing behind it like a second background. The square and circular shapes that are displayed along with the collage enhances that sense of symmetry and fullness to the collage, filling in the gaps that would otherwise render the collage less solid and with a sense of incompleteness. Other than that, the composition and placement of the collage on screen feels bold and purposeful, as if it was meant to be there, be it in the middle or a little off centre. The colours, as well, is something that I like, creating the mood and tone of the music and collage, hence seemingly applying another layer of narrative to the visuals. Screen shots of the collages in the music video.Īppearing in a clean, graphical style, the collages in the music video are what I find visually appealing and thus draws me to the music the symmetry of it adding a very complete and whole atmosphere to each and every visual appearing on screen. Also, how the whole story comes to a close is quite perplexing to me, as I m slightly confused to his somewhat maddening thought process, even though I find the story nicely concluded as in an earlier page, it was mentioned that one of the mentioned methods of photography could drive one mad. The subtle contradictions of what the image is suppose to do and what it actually does intrigues and amuses me, as I can see the irony in this thinking. I also like how it states that by taking a spontaneous photograph, catching the moment, you destroy the spontaneity of it, halting the moment in its tracks. Saw some attributes to what makes an image and maybe how the image is a façade of reality, a mere replica of it. I Found the story quite interesting, and I liked the thinking process of the protagonist in the story, where his philosophical thinking could border on overthinking. Above is the pages that I read, where I highlighted the sentences or statements I found interesting.
